The announcement we’ve been waiting for (please say you have been too, I can’t be the only nerd on this site!)… iPad 2 is expected to ship as early as February!! YAHOO!
These reports are unconfirmed by Apple, reported via Reuters, but what we can expect is to see the iPad 2 at the end of February 2011. In the report, we learned that sources from Taiwan-based component makes have been told mass production of the device would begin in January, with an initial shipment of 400-600,000 units expected.
In the fourth quarter (or the Fall) of 2010, Apple sold a whopping 4.19 million iPads… yup, nearly 4,200,000 iPads just this fall! But, believe it or not, this was lower than what experts expected, however we’re only a few days into December, and holiday sales ramping up, those numbers should roll even higher… but then again, with news of the iPad 2 coming (allegedly), maybe those looking for an iPad under the tree might decide to wait a few more months for the illusive next generation.
Alright, that’s all for now, just thought you’d want to know this little piece of tech gossip – ok, that last part was totally nerdy… my apologies.
